Soloi Sounds is a music project by graphic designer Yosuke Goto living in Tokyo. He creates ambient music by combining field recordings, old Roland synthesizers, analog synths, Taishogoto (Japanese stringed musical instrument), and toy instruments. He has dropped the sense of visual art gained in his day-to-day graphic design work—mainly the design of magazines and books—into music in a way that does not get caught in the grid. He avoids mechanical repetition as much as possible, and pursues asynchronous rhythms, melodies and atmospheres that are not tied to music playing techniques and theory.
